This urn, which is square and will fit in most columbarium niches, has a Buddhist subject. It is a beautiful boddhisattva who holds a lotus and rosary, a compassionate being that comes to give comfort to the world.

The urn came out of the salt firing with a miraculous division of dark and light–such is the mystery of firing; the potter never knows for sure how pieces will look. The dark and light on this urn wonderfully express the Buddhist themes of yin/yang, positive/negative, male/female, day/night, sound/silence–the balance of forces that make up our universe.

The lid of this urn takes the lovely shape of the lotus that the boddhisattva sits upon. If you purchase this urn, you will also receive a cloth bag made of soft black cotton which will enable you to fill the urn to its top. This gives the urn a 130 cubic-inch capacity. Generally, you should figure about one cubic inch per pound of living body weight.  If ashes are partially scattered, or divided amongst loved ones, it will be suitable for a larger individual.
