3A Green/Pink “In Loving Memory” Miniature Urn

This fine porcelain mini urn in soft greens and pinks will hold approximately 6 tablespoons of cremains.

This series of small memorial urns (reliquaries) came to me as I was thinking about the need for a very special container for keeping a small quantity of ash. If you scatter, it might be important to you to keep a little bit of the cremains. I have a precious teaspoonful of my mother’s ashes, that I kept after we scattered the rest in the mountains. Maybe you will want to do something like this.

The inscription on this memorial urn reads “In Loving Memory.” It is made of fine white porcelain, carved and colored with many soft layers of underglazes, each layer applied and allowed to dry before another was added, a process of many hours. It was bisque fired, glazed and fired again; then more tints were added in enamel, and it was fired a third time. These little urns have a contemplative quality that comes out of their slow and careful creation.
